The Rua Melon is based around a traditional Irish Red Ale recipe. We start with a rich, biscuity English-style 2-row malt and add a small bit of caramel malt and a dash of roasted barley to give this beer a lovely red color and a rich mouthfeel with a slight roasty finish. We added a modern twist by dry hopping with a modern German hop called “Huell Melon” which lends a distinct cantelope and citrus flavor to the finish which counterbalances the dryness imparted by the roasted barley.
“Rua” means “Red” in Gaelic.
This beer is also known as “Huell Satan” around the brewery….
